Aero Club of Washington Observations

9/30/2008

As I peered over the podium at some 150 attendees at the Aero Club of Washington’s September luncheon featuring Pratt & Whitney’s President, Steve Finger, I was impressed by the diversity of the crowd who came to listen to a speech about engines! There were the usual cast of characters—trade associations, consultants, lobbyists, aviation lawyers and every segment of the industry from airports to operators, from commercial to general aviation. And Mr. Finger delivered! Whether showcasing the company’s new PurePower 1000G engine, or its EcoPower Engine Wash, Steve spoke passionately about his company’s part in aviation history, and its future. The Q and A that followed was engaging and informative. I was left with the impression I often have with talented, smart people in our industry—they really do want to make a change for the better and we all benefit from their enthusiasm and dedication.
